It is really amazing too see how tables turn, or rather how History repeats itself.
In the Mumbai and Godhra riots the same had happened to the Muslims, were they were (and still are) slaughtered, burnt alive and refused any help or whatsoever while the police or the security forces turned a blind eye.
All this had happened because the Muslim community was becoming economically stronger in a Hindu majority state; and I guess this explains the reason of the current situation in Kashmir to a little extent.
I condemn both the situations and call for peace and harmony, but at the end of the day we are all responsible equally.
The Hindus and Muslims always turn a blind eye to each other when they need each other the most.
This is ironical for a “secular” state but is a fact.

Hi ZS,
To begin with, why do we always refer to Gujarat and Mumbai my friend. Atrocities on Hindus in the name of religion has been going on for 1000 years. It is like being an Ostrich if you don’t accept the forceful conversions and mass killing of hindus for the last 1000 years.
Even in Pakistan, the population of Hindus has shrinked to mere 2% since 1947 where as in India, Muslim population is growing and attainging higher glories, and yes we all are proud of it.
When Muslims were killed in Gujrat and Mumbai, it was a very sad day for India but saying that it happened because of economic issue is taking the lie too far. It happened because there are sections of people who are intolerant and want to reap the profit of division along religious or caste lines and they are on both the sides. I am sure millions of hindus, if not all, will be happy to see the perpetrators of the riots in Gujarat and Mumbai punished for their crimes but please don’t try to equate the two.
The current sitiation in J & K is different. It is mere apppeasement of the secessionist forces. People who are burning Indian flags and shounting pro-Pakistani and anti-India slogans are being appeased but in Jammu people giving off their lives holding the tricolor and chanting “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and are shot off in the head. There was a program on NDTV India (Hindi) today, where it was shown that even Muslims in Jammu are suppporting the cause of Amarnath. This can’t be eqalised with a Hindu-Muslim riot and it is surely not.
This agitation is for making the law makers in Delhi and J & K listen to the real voice of people of India. Like Bhagat Singh said “Behron ko sunane ke liye dhamke ki zaroorat hoti hai.”
